Nyree Martinez is a resident of Staten Island. She is a teacher at Al Madinah School for over 20 years educating students in grades Pre-k through second.
She holds a degree in Business Management from Baruch College which aided in opening her very own licensed Day Care Center.
Looking for a new challenge in her career, Nyree took on a promotional position as a Lead Teacher. Through this time, Nyree worked to write quality curriculums, provide professional development, workshops and coaching techniques for her fellow colleagues. She has opened her classroom and shares her insights to others.
When she is not teaching, Nyree can be found on the forefront of her community alongside her husband, as the Cofounder to a newly launched organization called Muslim Peer Services. Their mission is to create a culture of healing and wellness as peer support specialists for all of humanity. A peer support specialist is a non-clinical, state certified person advocate who has progressed in their own recovery from mental health and/or substance/alcohol use, or formerly incarcerated individual, and is working to assist others on their recovery journey. Using the guiding principles of Islam and the 8 dimensions of wellness to foster long term recovery for those who face mental health and substance use challenges.
Nyree and her husband Rashawn have been happily married for 25 years, together they have four children and four beautiful grandchildren.
